Civilization!!!

Howdy!!! Haven't seen you in a while, where ya been??? We went to Anchorage this "weekend". It was good to get out. We left on Sunday at 5pm and got there at 8:30pm. We had to make a slight detour to our bosses house to pick up our checks. I have to vent for a moment... HOTELS IN ANCHORAGE ARE ABSOLUTELY THROUGH THE ROOF. I called Motel 6 in Anchorage to get a rate and they said that the cheapest in town was 160 a night!!! We packed the tent, unfortunately mother nature had other plans because it started to rain and was cloudy ( I was NOT going to sleep in the rain). So after getting our Denny's fix (the simple things you miss in life!!!) we found a little Inn called the Road Way Inn for only 109 a night (I know, still outrageous, but it was that or a tent in the now pouring rain). The room wasn't half bad, the mattress kind of sucked, but we were thankful for a bed. The night before I was stuck sleeping a very unrestful seven and a half hours in a Chevy s-10!! ( Jeremiah thought this was hilarious and snapped a few photos, I think he was more proud of the nest he built... and the fact that he thought he could get one up on me!!!

The next day, we went to visit Annubis... He didn't respond so well to us, so all of us decided that it would be best for him to find another home... Though he is gorgeous and full of character. We went back to the hotel and got some sleep ( a bed, finally!!! Yes!!!). Despite the fact that Annubis didn't work out, we came home with a new friend... Galen (Irish for: Small but lively). He/she is two months old and a sweet heart, though it can BITE!!! Rube isn't so sure of it, he's funny. I put their cages next to each other and Rube crouched down really low spread his wings about half way, fluffed up all his feathers and hissed. When I took him out, he cloung to me as to say "my mom, not yours" to his competition... Galen's favorite treat are apples right now, but he was also munching on a carrot. It is also learning to talk, Galen is still working on it, but you can tell it's trying to get the sound right!

Lady is very curious, she can't understand why we won't let her have this strange thing!!! She sits by it's cage and stares at it with perked ears. Amazingly this bird is a lot quieter than Anubis (He had a whole house to fill), but he/she isn't exactly the quietest thing in the world, especially when you're in close quarters for three hours straight. Minus the whole noise thing, he'/she is a good little traveler!!!

Other news, Uncle Harold continues to be doing well, Grandpa is up there visiting. I think he will be up there for the fourth of July, so that will be fun... Adam is coming up to visit next week. That's all, so have a great day and enjoy your week!!! Goodnight from the
